Welp.
That was something, right?
The LA Elite captured its first win against the Nashville Smash in California, bringing out the likes of UFC star Anderson Silva and a packed house inside Thunder Studios.
But for the first two nights, both of which featured back-and-forth contests, all the way up until the 24th round, the conclusions were more than unexpected.
Because who would’ve expected a disqualification and a forfeit two events in a row?
On Friday, April 24, the Boston Butchers hosted the NYC Attitude. The two teams, led by head coach Patrick Sullivan and Ryan O’Leary, continued the Boston-New York rivalry. Perhaps not to the extent of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. At least, not yet. In a conclusion that came absolutely out of nowhere, the disqualification of NYC’s Shawn McCalman, after hitting a knocked-down Steven Sumpter, led to Boston winning by a score of 18-14. It was hectic. The atmosphere was all over the place. It was so unusual. That was one way to kick off a week of TBL.
Saturday, April 25, the San Antonio Snipers, just like the Boston Butchers, were on the verge of beating the Las Vegas Hustle. Although Jarvis Shepard's absence in Round 21 led to a total of five points for Hustle in Round 24. Yojalner Martinez won against San Antonio’s Raphael Igbokwe, then the announcement was made that an extra four points would be awarded for Las Vegas to conclude the match, giving win number two for Hustle and the Snipers’ first loss of the season, 17-15.
For the LA Elite, who dominated the Nashville Smash during the money rounds, 8-3, it was Erick Sanchez’s huge four points in Round 17 that created the scoreboard separation. The Elite fell to the Las Vegas Hustle and the San Antonio Snipers in its first two contests, but found a way to end the losing streak in front of the hometown crowd, 16-11.
Week five was wild in its own way.
What does week six bring?
We’ll have to find out.
