Scorecard: Nashville Smash — Smashes, Philadelphia’s Streak Continues, Miami Handles the Attitude

The beauty of Team Boxing League is the unexpectedness that it brings.

It’s hard to truly tell what could happen for every single one of the three fights. Whether it be an upset (as we saw with the NYC Attitude against the San Antonio Snipers during week 11) or a crazy fight to the finish (Philadelphia Smoke and the Miami Assassins during week eight).

Well, for week 12, it was the Nashville Smash returning the favor against the Atlanta Attack for its week one loss by a landslide; the Boston Butchers nearly breaking Philadelphia’s win streak and the Assassins putting a stop to NYC’s momentum, including yet another insane knockout by Luis “King Kong” Ortiz.

Friday, June 12, the Nashville Smash attacked the Atlanta Attack with a 15-11 victory at home. Jasir Riley scored a big two points during the fifth round against Javonn Davis via knockdown. Isaiah Elrod completed the night 2-0 while fighting Atlanta’s Raul Eliazar Garcia. On the other hand, Jeremey Hill scored a knockdown against Nashville’s Roger Hilley. This victory for head coach Fred Dulay’s squad has placed them in the eighth spot for the playoffs.

Saturday, June 13, the Boston Butchers were given the opportunity to break Philadelphia’s winning streak. Although the Smoke was too much, head coach Bob Kane’s team prevailed and found a way to win when it mattered the most. Steven Cunningham Sr. came up big time with a knockdown while facing Miguel Teo in round 21. That extra point grew the gap and made it hard for Boston to see the end of the tunnel. Philadelphia remained on top in the end,

Sunday, June 14, the Miami Assassins took care of the NYC Attitude with ease, and it was capitalized by a huge knockout by none other than Luis “King Kong” Ortiz during the eighth round — laying Edward Millard on the ground. Not even a minute into the fight, Ortiz knocked down Millard. Millard stood up, regained balance and returned the favor — sending Ortiz to the ground. But in that moment, Ortiz quickly got back into position and eventually landed a nasty left hand that clocked Millard — scoring a knockout to finish the launch rounds. Darrius Jackson, the youngster on Miami’s roster, won both bouts against Attitude’s Ryan Zempoaltecatl in rounds five and 23. The Assassins did enough damage and then some to give NYC another loss, 24-6.

There you have it, folks. Another week, another scorecard.

I’ll see y’all soon.
