Scorecard: Miami Assassins Ends With Seven Wins, LA Elite Gets No. 3, Las Vegas Hustle Wins a Nail-Biter

The Nashville Smash competed with the Miami Assassins. Forget the records in this one because from the beginning it was toe-to-toe. (Sentence about Saturday’s fight). (Sentence about Sunday’s fight).

Team Boxing League can really give you anything in an instant.

Friday, June 26, Nashville and Miami ended in a 17-7 score, but this fight was so much closer than what those numbers indicate. As round 16 arrived, Smash was done by one point, 8-7, but Miami’s Luis Ortiz came in and added another point — this time not a knockout against Terrell Jamal Woods. This contest saw no extra points as it was filled with unanimous and split-decisions all night long. Miami is 7-1 entering the playoffs, while Nashville moves to 2-5.

Saturday, June 27, the LA Elite and the Houston Hitmen were nowhere near a contest compared to Friday’s matchup. LA was all over Houston from the start, and ran up the scoreboard big time, (insert final score). Angel Muñoz knocked out Solomon Colton in round six, and then two rounds later, Jonathan Rice reeled in another four points — breaking down Mike Nguyen. A mixture of forfeits in rounds 16, 18 and 19 tallied in 12 total points to help support the Elite’s run. However, one bright spot for Houston was Damian Lescaille — a pro debut that ended 2-0 on the night.

Finally, to close out the weekend, Sunday, June 28, the Las Vegas Hustle and the Phoenix Fury, unlike the first night in Long Beach, this contest went the distance and needed all 24 rounds to conclude a winner. Phoenix trailed by one point after the launch rounds finished, 5-4. Each team had a knockdown: Hustle’s in round four as Joana Nwamerue took down Rebekah Irwin and Fury’s came in round 15 — thanks to the hands of former West Virginia football defensive back Charles Pugh. Though, with no swing rounds listed on the bout sheet, this one came down to the final bout: Fury’s Raiko Santana vs. Hustle’s Yojanler Martinez as Las Vegas had a 13-12 advantage. Martinez and Santana slugged it out, trading blow for blow, but it was Las Vegas who edged out in the end, winning 14-12 for its seventh win of the season.

There is a one week break before week 15 begins brings the following matchups: NYC Attitude-Boston Butchers, Atlanta Attack-Dallas Enforcers and the Philadelphia Smoke-San Antonio Snipers.

See you later, week 14.
